Willful Failure

Willful Failure – one of the first documented hard core punk bands in the Palm Desert underground scene. The band was founded in the early 80’s by New York transplant, bassist Brian Maurer who would later go on to form the surf punk/rock band The Woody’s, guitarist Thick Rick Alvirado (Mario Lalli”s brother-in-law) and untamed frontman John Summers best known for his contributions to Family Butcher. WF introduced a young Alfredo Hernandez on drums to the underground music scene that was in it’s infancy. They were revered for their bold thrashing punk tunes, offensive lyrics, and raw presentation. They reassembled briefly in 2003 with Kevin Smith (Anorexix, Family Butcher) taking over Rick’s guitar parts.
